Hispanic Coalition Hosts “Lunch and Learn”
More than thirty five Hispanic community leaders attended the “Lunch and Learn” lunch held by the Hispanic Committee of the Healthy Marriage- Healthy Families Coalition of Tarrant County.
Members of the Committee introduced attendees to the marriage and education programs offered by the Coalition; each was accompanied by a demonstration of the curricula in action. The presentations were given in English and Spanish, reflecting the Coalition’s ability to provide workshops to a variety of participants.

Lizette Fontanez, an employee of City of Fort Worth Public Health Department and the Chair of the Hispanic Committee, introduced the presenters and demonstrated the “How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk/ette” program. Magdalena Tavera, an individual member of the Coalition, presented the “Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program” (PREP) and used 2 volunteers to demonstrate the “floor technique”, a key component of the PREP program. Mercedes Cruz of Aetna Insurance explained the Couple Communication program, showing how the “communication mat” is used to teach couples. Finally, Araceli Soto with Lake Dallas Primary explained the variety of follow up services and programs available to couples through the Coalition.
